Raised in a diplomatic family (similar to a military family), I traveled extensively as a child and experienced many cultures, perspectives, and languages. By the time I was nine, I had been on three continents and in seven countries. My itinerate upbringing bestowed in me a deep appreciation of diversity, a discerning ear for languages, and a gluttonous love of all foods!

M Labor, organizing, and political involvement were initially afforded me through my service as an elected officer of my own faculty union, and I have since utilized those positions to build and broaden my Labor skill set and experience. I have worked in various roles within the Labor movement: Rep/Organizer, Community and Field Coordinator, Labor Relations Representative, Political and Communications Director, and even served in labor management as Assistant General Manager of an independent public employees union.

I am a retired EVC Associate Faculty Member. I was on the AFT6157 negotiating team for 12 years, served as a grievance officer for 5 years, and also was on the Executive Board. I really believe in Faculty Unions and was proud to be a part of the team that moved Associate Faculty from an hourly salary rate to the salary schedule, along with many other improvements to the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
